Tuesday 1st May 12.30 – 2.30pm at LCI
Lunchtime Conversations is a book club for theological books. We meet to discuss a particular title over a bite to eat. Everybody is welcome, you don’t need to have read the book being discussed in advance, in fact after the session we hope that you might want to borrow it from the study centre.
This month Lawrence Cockrill leads the session on Jesus The Forgiving Victim by James Alison.
“Jesus the Forgiving Victim offers something quite fresh in the field of introductions to faith and Christian orthodoxy by restoring to the Christian life the wonder and transformative power of discovering not some new Biblical fact or church doctrine, but that you are loved far more than you know. In these four essays, James Alison takes us on a journey from fake goodness, from a false and insecure self to relaxing into a goodness and security not our own, but in which we discover ourselves held by God. A journey from a unity that needs to create victims toward a unity received from the risen and forgiving victim in our midst.”
